Add Google Adsense Ads
Adding Google Adsense ads to your websites is one of the easiest ways to begin making money online. The act of turning a website into a money making site is called monetization and one of the easiest and greatest forms of monetization is Google AdSense. This article will show you how to add Google AdSense ads to your website.
What is Google AdSense?
Google AdSense is the advertising network run by Google the places ads on web pages that are labled "Ads by Google". They show up in a variety of sizes and formats and if done correctly, all display ads that are relevant to the content on your web page. That's why they work so well.
Google analyzes your website to determine what it is about. Then it digs into it's database of advertisements and pulls out ads that are related to your content and places them on your web page in the locations and size thay you determined when you created your web page. That way all of the ads are relevant to the content on your website and the visitors who searched for it. This produces highly targeted ads that are relevant to your visitor resulting in better returns for the advertiser and for you, the content publisher.
Getting Started with Google AdSense
Before you can begin putting Google AdSense on a web page, you must have a website on which to put them. Duh! That seems pretty obvious. In truth you must have a website that meets Google's requirements for content and quality and you must apply to Google for an AdSense account.
Step 1. Apply for a Google AdSense Account
After you've developed your website or at least a good chunk of it, apply for an account at Google AdSense. You can find the link to Google AdSense listed among the advertisers on the Advertisers, Sponsors, and Affiliates page. There are several things you should have before you apply for a Google AdSense account
- Payee/Contact Name - You must be able to receive checks made payable to the name on your AdSense applictaion.
- Address - AdSense only accepts applications with valid mailing addresses. You need to provide a complete maling address.
- Email Address - The email address you enter will be your login and it will be the addreess that Google communicates with regarding your AdSense account.
- MOST IMPORTANT - DON'T APPLY TO GOOGLE BEFORE YOU HAVE THIS!
Your website must be launced and contain enough textual content for their specialists to eavluate. Do not apply if your website is still "Under Construction." Websites that don't load or that have non-functioning links will not be approved. Also make certain that the URL on your application is entered correctly. - Site Ownership - You must have access to the HTML source code on your site so that Google can verify that you are the site owner. In some cases, Google will also require that your site has been up and running for six months before they will approve your application.
Step 2. Create and Configure Your Ads
Once you've been approved by Google, you can login and begin creating and managing your ads. Click on AdSense Setup. You can create Ads for Content which are text or text and image ads of varying sizes that can be placed in the main body or margins of your web page. There are also options for Ads for Search, Ads for Domains, Ads for Feeds, and Ads for Mobile Content. For your website, you'll probably only use Ads for Content and Ads for Search.
Ad Units or Link Units
When you go to Ads for Content, you'll have two choices, Ad Units or Link Units. Ad units contain either text ads, image ads, or both. The ads are targeted to the content of your page using contextual and placement targeting.
Each link unit displays a list of topics that are relevant to your page. When users click a topic, they're brought to a page of related ads.
