Appying an Internal Style to a Page
This tutorial illustrates applying an internal style in Dreamweaver CS5.
Let's look in a little more detail at applying internal CSS styles.
I'm going to start with the soccer document again. I've created a new style called .TestClass with a distinctive red font.

If I place the cursor into a paragraph without selecting any text, select the Format menu and hover over CSS Styles... I see the new style listed on the fly-out menu.

If I now select this style, it is applied to the whole paragraph, even though the cursor was only in the paragraph and there was no text selected.

However, now see what happens if I select a few words of text in the next paragraph like this.

Now select the .TestClass style from the Format CSS Styles fly-out menu and only the selected text has the CSS style applied to it.

Note that you can also apply a style using the Target Rule dropdown in the Properties Panel.
Note also that when you have no text selected and a style is being applied to a whole paragraph, a paragraph is defined as everything between two carriage returns characters.
