Changing Cell and Row Properties in Tables
This tutorial will illustrate changing cell and row properties in Dreamweaver CS5.
In the previous section we looked at changing properties for a table. We can also change properties for a row or column, and we can change properties for a cell.
These properties work in a priority order The table has properties that apply to all rows, columns and cells. If we assign properties to a row, these override the corresponding table properties for that row. Similarly, any properties assigned to a column override any table properties for that column. Cell properties override all of the others.
To assign properties to a table, row, column or cell I need to select the table, row, column or cell.
Let's look at an example, starting with one of our earlier tables.

The table is selected and centered on the page. The alignment of the text within it is according to the default settings.
Now select the first column.

Note how the Properties Panel relates to the selected column. Let's set some specific properties for the column, which means that they are set for each cell in the column.
Horz is the horizontal alignment, which we set to Right. Vert is the vertical alignment, which we set to Bottom.
We also set the background color to a mid green color.
Now look at the revised column.

Now let's select just the middle cell in this column.

Note that now the lower part of the Properties Panel shows properties for only the selected cell.
Let's override some of the column properties.
Set Horz to Center and Vert to Top, and set the background color to a medium blue.

Finally, whether a column, a row or a cell are selected, you can specify the width (W) or height (H) either in pixels or as a % of the available space. If you leave these values blank for a column, a row or a cell, Dreamweaver works out the dimensions for you based on all prevailing requirements.
