Create a Workspace in Dreamweaver CS5

This tutorial will show you how to create a workspace in Dreamweaver CS5.

As you work with Dreamweaver you'll start to develop your own convenient and efficient layout for the tools you use. You may even find that different layouts suit different tasks. You can save a layout - including the location of the windows and panels you're using - as a Dreamweaver custom workspace.

Dreamweaver provides a number of default workspaces. To choose between these you can use the Workspace Layout option on the Window menu, which produces a fly-out from which you choose the workspace you want.

Note that the workspace currently in use (in my case Designer) is checked.

You can also use the Workspace menu button as shown here.

Try a few of the default workspaces and note the differences. This is the Classic layout.

Once you have a layout of your own that you'd like to keep as a custom workspace, click the Workspace menu when you have that layout in use and select New Workspace....

Enter a name for your custom workspace and press OK. You'll see your custom workspace now listed on the menu.

When you have a few custom workspaces set up, you'll need to manage them. Choose the Manage Workspaces... option on the Workspace menu and you'll see the Manage Workspaces dialog.

As you can see, there is an option to rename the selected workspace. You can also delete a workspace you no longer need. Select the workspace and press Delete. You are asked to confirm the deletion, and if you still want to go ahead click Yes.
