Defining an Image Folder
This tutorial will illustrate defining an image folder in Dreamweaver CS5.
When you set up a new web site it's recommended that you create a specific folder to hold all of your images. It makes it easier to find images, and this consistent approach is particularly helpful when more than one person is working on a site.
When we setup Site1 you may recall that we specified images as the folder within the root folder to hold the images. Select Site1 in the Files Panel and you can see the images folder, although it's currently empty.

Now open the Manage Sites dialog, select Site1 and click Edit. The Local Info page in the Advanced section shows the images sub-folder and its location relative to the Site Root.

Note that when creating a new site this page is used to specify the folder to be used for images, and the Browse for Folder button can be used to locate the folder to use.

One other useful aspect of defining a folder like this is that if I have an image elsewhere and want to include it in a page, Dreamweaver will ask me if I want it to copy it to my images folder, as we'll see later.
