Editing Images in Photoshop
This tutorial will show you how to edit images in Photoshop from Dreamweaver CS5.
There is another way of inserting a a Photoshop image, and it has a rather useful benefit that goes along with it.
Let's choose another Sydney image and place it in another position on the page.

This time we're going to insert an image which is in Photoshop's own PSD format. Click Image on the Insert menu, then browse to the PSD file we need.

Click OK. The Image Preview dialog appears.

Make selections as before, then deal with the Save Web Image and Image Attributes (Alt Text) dialogs as before. The image is inserted, and once again it's too big.

Now, the special thing here is that by inserting a Photoshop image (i.e. starting with a PSD source) we have established a Smart Object that maintains a link between the image on the page and the original PSD file in Photoshop. If I make a change to the image in Dreamweaver it will not automatically update the original PSD image, and vice versa. However, in the corner of the image I can see a pair of arrows that are green.

If the images (the original PSD and the JPEG in Dreamweaver) are not in step, one of the arrows changes from green to red.
One of the ways in which I can take advantage of this is to right click on the image and select Edit Original with Photoshop from the menu.

The original image appears in Photoshop and I resize it to reduce its size by a factor of 5. After I save the changes and return to Dreamweaver, I see that one of my arrows has changed from green to red.

I right click on the image again and select Update from original.

and I can see that the change in size has now been repeated in the JPEG image on my web page.

This feature is not available when we use copy and paste to place a Photoshop image on a web page.
