Finding Files in the Files Panel
This tutorial will show you how to find files in the files panel.
When you only have a very few sites and files it's quite easy to keep track of everything. However, as your sites get bigger and you develop more of them, it can become tricky to locate files, or even to know which site a particular files belongs to.
The Files Panel can help with this too. It can also help you to keep track of which are the newer and older files in your local and remote sites.
Here's an example. I have the file Page-22.html open, and I can't remember which of my sites it belongs to.

To locate the file, click Locate in Site on the Site menu.

The file appears selected in the Files Panel.

Here are some of the other useful features, particularly related to keeping track of different versions of files on local and remote sites.
Here is an expanded Files Panel showing the file Page-1.html on the local site.

To locate the equivalent file on the remote site, select the file, then choose Locate on Remote Server from the File Panel's Edit menu.

Dreamweaver locates the file on the Remote Server and selects and highlights it.

We'll look in more details at synchronizing versions of files later, but it is often useful to be able to find files we've updated recently.
For example, select Site1 in the Files Panel, and then Edit from the Files Panel's menu in its top right hand corner.

Then click on Select Recently Modified.

You then specify either a number of days or a date range for Dreamweaver to check for modification. I've asked it to identify files modified in the last 1 day. Click on OK and the results are displayed

In this case only the file Page-22.html has been modified within the last day.
