Modify Font Families
This tutorial will show you how to modify font families in Dreamweaver CS5.
When we saw default fonts earlier you may have noticed that in each case there were actually three fonts specified. The reason for this is that different users have different fonts installed on their PCs, and Dreamweaver lets you specify fonts to use in preference order, just in case the visitor's PC doesn't have the font or fonts you need. If the first (primary font is not available use the second (secondary) font, and so on.
Looking again at the Appearance (CSS) page on the Preferences dialog I can see this set of fonts, which is called a font combination.

The primary font is Georgia, secondary font is Times New Roman and the general font is Times. If the visitor's PC has none of those three fonts, the browser will use a serif font - note the word serif at the end of the list. In the absence of a serif font, and as a last resort, it will use the visitor's browser preferences.
Dreamweaver comes complete with a number of these font combinations. Select Font from the Format menu and you will see which combinations are available.

You may want to amend these combinations or create your own. To maintain the list of combinations select Edit Font List... from the fly-out menu. You will see the Edit Font List dialog.

The dialog offers you a number of options.
The button with the + sign lets you add a new combination. The line in the scrolling list that is highlighted and contains the text "(Add fonts in list below)" will contain the combination. Choose three fonts from the list of available fonts and click the left chevron marker for each. Then add "sans-serif" as the catch-all The dialog now looks like this.

Click on OK and the new combination is created and will appear on the fly-out menu next time you select the Format menu then Font.
The button with the - sign lets you delete a combination. Select the combination then press the button with the - key. Note that no confirmation is needed, so take care.
If you would like to change the order of the font combinations on the fly-out menu, select thecombinations one at a time and use the up and down chevrons to move the selected combination up or down the list. It's often best to keep the list in an order that makes it easier to find the combination that you need.
In this fly-out menu the combinations have been organized into alphabetical order.
