Modifying a Link
This tutorial will illustrate modifying a link in Dreamweaver CS5.
Sometimes it's necessary to change links. This may happen if, for example, the company or service you're linking to changes their website address. Or maybe you find a better company to provide the service you need.
The good news is that it's easy to modify a link in Dreamweaver.
Let's start with our state map and the link to Wyoming. Instead of linking to the named anchor on our own page, let's link to the state of Wyoming's eGovernment site.

The hotspot over the state of Wyoming is selected and the hotspot properties can be seen.
Now enter the URL for the state of Wyoming's eGovernment site into the Link box. Specify "_blank" so that we get a new browser window for the site.
Here are the hotspot properties now.

Now test it in Live view (don't forget to Ctrl when you click!) or Preview in Browser.

That's OK!
As a second example. let's return to our page about Sydney. At the top we have a link to a named anchor relating to visa information.
I've now created a separate page about visa information, and I'd like to link to that instead.
First of all, open the page, find the link and select it. The properties of the link are shown in the Properties Panel.

To link to the new page I can use the Browse button to the right of the Link box and that lets me locate and select it.

Having selected and confirmed the file it appears in the Link box. It's in the same folder as the current page so the path is simple.
I specified "_self" for the Target so that the visa information page will be seen in the same browser window.
Now it's time to test it, All OK!

Having tested in Live view and now looking at the visa information page, I return to the previous page using the Back button on the Browser Navigation toolbar.
