Modifying Radio Buttons and Check Boxes

This tutorial will show you how to modify radio buttons and check boxes in Dreamweaver CS5.

Now we're ready to add some different types of object to our form. Let's put on some radio buttons and a check box.

Here's our form so far.

A group of radio buttons allows a user to only select one button in the group. We're going to use a group of radio buttons on the order from for the type of payment card: Mastercard, Visa or Amex.

Place the cursor where we want the group to appear, then select Radio Group from the Insert Form fly-out menu.

The Radio Group dialog appears.

Give the group a name, then set up the buttons. We need three buttons, so add one by clicking on the + button.

Now assign a label for each button and a value to assign to the group for each button.

Complete the button labels and choose between a vertical arrangement with line breaks or a tabular arrangement. Here is the completed dialog.

Press OK and the radio group is inserted onto the page.

To set an initial selection for the group, select the button to be checked initially and set the Initial Sate to Checked in the Properties panel.

Now let's add a single check box for the customer to specify whether this order of flowers is a gift or not. Place the cursor in the right place on the form, then select Checkbox from the Insert Form fly-out menu.

This invokes the Input Tag Accessibility Attributes dialog. Here I've completed the dialog.

Press OK and the check box appears on the page. Note that I've used the Properties panel to assign a value when it is checked and to specify that its initial state is unchecked.

You can test both of these new objects using Live view.
