Monetize Your Website

Before deciding on your site conceptt, you must consider how to monetize your website and what the monetization or income potential will be. Monetization potential is not the same as keyword profitability which you read about in an earlier article.

Profitability considers the demand/supply ratio of a keyword. It's a measure of the profitabilty and risk of each keyword you're considering. Demand is an indication of how much monetization traffic your site will receive if you are found by the search engines for that keyword.

Supply is a measure of how competitive or how difficult it will be to get found by the search engines. The higher the supply of websites focusing on that keyword, the more difficult it will be for you to get your site in the top twenty listings in search engine results for that keyword. When you monetize your website, you'll want to choose a site concept that integrates profitable keywords and also has a high potential for monetization.

Monetization potential looks at all the ways you can make money on your website based on our content and site concept. There are many ways to monetize your website and earn an income from your site concept. That is potential for monetization, however, and that depends on getting found by the search engines and getting enough traffic to your site so that you can earn an income. If you can get found for a lot of profitable keywords, you'll be able to realize that income.

Ways to Make Money from Your Website

To be most profitable, you should look for a site concept that offers potential to monetize your website and build several streams of income and ways to get paid. You creating a website to generate traffic that is pre-sold. That is your visitors were already looking for the information that you are providing when they found your site, now you need to consider the various ways that you can turn that pre-sold traffic into an income stream. Given your site concept what are the ways that you can generate income and what is the financial potential of your site concept?

There are many possible ways to monetize your website and make money from it. Consider the following and see if they fit with your site concept.

Attract more bidders to your eBay auctions.
Build warm leads for your Network Marketing (MLM) business.
Represent the products or services of related online businesses (affiliate income) i.e. Amazaon Affiliate marketing.
Partner with an offline business to send them customers on a pay per click, pay per lead, or per sale basis.
Sell your own hard goods or an e-book.
Earn income by placing advertising on your site, such as Google Adsense, or by selling advertising directly.
Generate traffic for your own e-commerce business or online store (Amazon or Yahoo Store or others).

If Google AdSense is going to be an important part of your website monetization plan, you should use the Google AdWords Keyword Tool to explore the monetization potential for your site concept ideas.

This tool will tell you the current rates that advertisers are paying using Google AdWords for a specific keyword. The higher the amount advertizers are willing to pay Google for keywords, the more income you'll be able to make from this concept. Note that high advertising costs indicates that the keyword is a valuable one.

Note also that the AdWords Keyword tool is meant for advertizers, not publishers. The only prices you will see are the ones being charged to advertisers for keywords. This is not the same as what Google will pay for clicks on ads for those keywords. It's reasonable to conclude, however, that if the keywords are high cost, then they will most likely also be the one that you will receive will be high too.

Using Google AdSense as a way to monetize our website is a great source of income if you can produce enough traffic, but it is not the only way to monetize your website. There are many other opportunities to make money with your website and as your site grows, you'll be surprised at how many different ways you'll find. The key is building a high value content site that gets a lot of traffic from the search engines.
