Setting Font Preferences
This tutorial illustrates setting font preferences in Dreamweaver CS5.
There is another important preference related to text to be aware of.
When a visitor looks at your pages in a browser they will usually see whatever your styles specify (subject to the visitor's installed fonts, etc). However, within Dreamweaver the fonts that are used to display text are set up as a set of preferences.
Open the Preferences dialog and select the Fonts page.

On this page you can set the preferred fonts for three specific situations within Dreamweaver.
The Proportional Font is the one that is used to display normal text, such as in paragraphs and headings. This is often set to Times New Roman with a size of 12 point (medium).

The selected Fixed Font is used to display text within a few specific HTML tags, i.e. <pre>, <code> and <tt>. This font will be one where the characters all have a fixed width.

The Code View font is the one used for text in Code view, and this is usually set to Courier New, a font with fixed width characters.

These fonts are used with the Unicode character encoding system, as shown in the dialog, which is the system that Western users normally use.
Unless you have a good reason to change these, they can generally be left alone. Use Dynamic Font Mapping should also be left checked.
