Using Undo and Redo
This tutorial explains using undo and redo in Dreamweaver CS5.
One of the most useful aspects of Dreamweaver is its powerful set of Undo and Redo features that allow you to make corrections or step backward from mistakes you made..
If you make a mistake - or even several mistakes - you can put things right. That's what Undo does.
And if you undo and then realize you were correct in the first place, you use Redo to put back in place the changes you made to your webpage. .
Let's see them at work, using our continent list.

Now I'm going to change my mind about having an indented section and use the Remove Blockquote button in the Properties Panel to realign the separate Americas, then delete the list element The Americas. The continent list now looks like this.

If I now change my mind again and decide to put things back how they were I can do it in stages if I want to.
First of all, I put the line The Americas back in by selecting Undo Delete on the Edit menu. Note that the menu entry will always say Undo followed by whatever you did last.

To undo the step before that I could use the menu again, but there is actually an Undo button on the Standard Toolbar and I'm going to use that.

And now, of course, I'm back where I started from.

(And by the way, the keyboard shortcut for Undo is Ctrl+Z. Find the keyboard shortcut for Redo!)
OK, I'm being really undecided now, and I'm going to go back to removing that indentation, which requires me to Redo the work I've just undone. I can use the relevant menu options and/or command buttons, but there is another way which can be very useful.
Select History on the Window menu.

The History Panel appears. It contains a listing of the actions performed on the current document.

The History Panel can be used to Undo or Redo actions.
To Undo several of the actions drag the pointer to the left of the panel up the list. All action items below the list will be undone.
To Redo several items drag the pointer down the the list. All items will be redone.
In this case I want to Redo both actions, so I drag the pointer down to the bottom of the list.
Note that the actions are Redone as I drag, and it's a pretty neat way of doing things.

The number of actions that Dreamweaver saves can be specified on the General tab in Preferences.
